 I just heard a loud boom. I got up. I stalked each room look for something array. Had it been my elderly father that fell? Was a child out of bed? Did my husband bump into the nightstand? I checked each room for disturbance. Only, there was none. Each family member was sleeping, soundly.  

The windows rattled, and the mobile home shook against the desert gust.
